Hotel Victoria is a four-star hotel on Strada Egalității, in the cultural and commercial centre of Pitești. The Argeș County Museum is a few minutes away on foot, Republic Park 450 metres off, and the first cafés and restaurants begin 30 metres from the door.
Seven room types run from single rooms of 20 and 24 m² up to the 38 m² Apartment and the 35 m² Junior Suite, which sleeps up to four. All of them have air conditioning, a private bathroom, a flat-screen TV, a safe, heating and a view over the city or the inner courtyard, and several are soundproofed.
The restaurant, the snack bar and the café are all on site, breakfast is continental and served buffet style, and Victoria Club pours drinks and cocktails. There is also a wellness area with a sauna, a Turkish bath and a hot tub, a business centre with conference rooms, free private parking and a front desk open around the clock.
Hotel Victoria has seven room types, between 20 and 38 m². All are non-smoking and come with air conditioning, a private bathroom, a flat-screen TV with cable and satellite channels, a safe, heating, a seating area and a view over the city or the inner courtyard.
What changes is the space, the bathroom and the way you reach your floor: the superior rooms, the standard twin, the Apartment and the Junior Suite have a minibar and are served by the lift, while the two standard rooms marked “No Lift” are reached by stairs. Some bathrooms have a bathtub, others a shower, and several a spa bath.
You can eat without leaving the building: the restaurant, the snack bar and the café all belong to the hotel, breakfast is continental and served buffet style, and Victoria Club serves drinks and cocktails to good music. Room service, special diet menus on request, a children's buffet and packed lunches are all available.
The wellness area brings together a sauna, a Turkish bath, a steam room, a hot tub and a wide range of massages. For work trips there is a business centre, conference and party rooms and a fax and photocopier; the front desk never closes and handles luggage, currency exchange, laundry, ironing and transfers. Most travellers come from Bucharest. Henri Coandă (Otopeni) airport is about 124 km away: by car or private transfer the drive takes around an hour and twenty minutes, direct coaches leave every hour and take roughly an hour and a quarter, and CFR trains run every two hours, taking two to three and a half hours. Pitești station is 1.3 km away, some 16 minutes on foot, and Pitești Nord 2 km. Publitrans buses cover the city. The hotel has free covered private parking, and an airport transfer can be arranged. Check-in starts at 14:00 and it is worth giving your arrival time in advance.
The centre is best seen on foot: Republic Park, Brătianu Park and Central Park are all under a kilometre away, and the Heroes' Gate, a monument from 1926 shaped like a traditional Romanian gateway, is 1.1 km off. The Argeș County Museum gathers archaeology, medieval weapons and traditional costumes, while the Pitești Prison Memorial tells the story of the political prison where over 600 students were tortured between 1949 and 1951. In the evening the musical fountains downtown put on a show of water, light and music. Trivale Park, 1.3 km away, has forest paths, picnic spots and a zoo. For a day out of town, Curtea de Argeș is about 30 minutes by bus, with the monastery Neagoe Basarab built between 1515 and 1517; from there the road climbs to Poenari Citadel and the Transfăgărășan, usually open from late June to late October. April brings the Tulip Symphony, July and August are warmest and June the wettest.
